This exhaust fan system is very high quality and very versatile. The design uses a single, high capacity fan motor to draw air from two separate exhaust housings. You will notice that this fan exhausts three times as many CFM as other, comparable exhaust fans yet it is very quiet. I can definitely recommend it.To ensure the quietest operation you want to have the distance from each exhaust housing to the fan motor as equal as possible, but whatever your configuration this is a very quiet, very efficient exhaust fan setup. The mounting of the fan motor housing requires some care. I had to phone Fantech support to solve my particular problem. They gave me an answer which turned out to be incorrect, but it pointed me toward the eventual solution. In my case part of their installation instructions was ambiguous and unclear. You must be very aware of any condensation forming in the ductwork or in the fan motor housing. The key is to use insulated ducting and to insulate the fan motor housing itself. The issue is having warm, moist exhaust air running through ducting that is cold (the attic in winter) so that moisture condenses and collects in locations where it eventually corrodes the metal housing or else encourages mold/mildew to form. By insulating the fan housing as well as the ductwork you avoid the problem, but you must do this as part of the installation.
