Undercounter installation
Purchased 3 of these in Biscuit to match other fixtures and they look great. The packaging was very sufficient to prevent damage as that was a concern.I got this Kohler 2209 as part of replacing the bathroom countertops in my house with granite. I like the undermount style, as it makes it easier to clean the countertops without having a sink lip in the way. The 2209 is a well-known standard bathroom sink replacement, so well known that my granite installer did not need a template because he was used to cutting for the Kohler 2209.The version I ordered (K-2209-0) does come with the overflow hole.Compared to the 2210 (which I also ordered for the master bathroom), the 2209 has a slightly smaller interior. However, when installed on a granite countertop to replace an over-the-counter standard sink, the 2209 does seem much bigger and deeper than a standard sink. Because it's pretty much a standard replacement, it fits well into the bathroom cabinetry, with no issues with the drain system. If you're considering the slightly larger 2210 sink, you really need to think about how it will fit into the cabinet. In terms of look, my neighbor happened to get his countertops done as well, only he went with the rectangular Kohler sinks....and he and his family hate the look. By comparison, the oval shape of this sink is much more pleasing to the eye and seems far more natural since water naturally makes a circular impression, not a square shape. I would definitely recommend an oval shape over a square/rectangle shape.Quality-wise, I couldn't ask for anything better. The sink looks good, works well, and fits just fine. Definitely a 5-star sink and a great replacement if you're re-doing your bathroom counters.Short on room? This sink is big enough to be satisfying, but small enough to fit on my 19" deep vanity.I was happy that these two sinks could be delivered within a few days, and they actually arrived a few days early. I was also happy that online reports that the sinks often arrive broken proved not to be a problem for me.However, I based my order on the measured size of my old oval sinks and ordered sinks with the same length and width. The sinks I received are about 1 inch shorter in each dimension. The job is not done yet, but the contractor who is making my new counter asked if I really want to make a counter for these little sinks. I have gone ahead and think the smaller sinks will be fine, but I sure would have liked to get sinks the same size as the old ones I measured to make my order.UPDATE: The sink looks good and the blemishes I described are not noticed during normal use, just upon the initial unboxing inspection.I originally ordered a perfectly made Toto sink, but it was too large and a smaller one wasn't available, so I bought the Kohler Caxton. I immediately noticed what I could only describe as a pock marked bowl. Countless blemishes under the surface, which I believe were tiny air bubbles that rose to the surface while the sink was being fired. The sink was smooth, but the imperfections were noticeable in my lighting. I called Kohler to see if this was normal for their product, and was told that it was abnormal and shouldnt've passed inspection, so I exchanged it for one of the same. Sure enough, the new one had the same markings. It's a sink, so all I expect is that it is shaped correctly and the bowl is free of visual defects/imperfections. I'm not a sink expert so I don't know how difficult it is to get a flawless look, but Toto certainly got it right.Amazon was great with the free exchange, quick refund, and fast deliveries. If you have a very narrow or shallow cabinet, then this sink may be fine, but if you have a normal size cabinet I would recommend getting the larger Caxton sink. I debated between buying this Caxton model or the larger one and wound up buying this one. I thought it would be nice to have a little extra counter space, and I looked at the measurements and thought the smaller sink would provide plenty of room for brushing teeth and washing hands. I regret my decision. This sink seems too small and cramped. Our vanity is 30 inches wide with another 22 inch cabinet next to it, so the countertop is 52 inches wide, and this sink just looks and feels extremely small. If you can't fit a larger sink, then this get this size, but if you are on the fence and the larger one would fit I think most people would be happier with the larger one.We matched this with a wide spread faucet and it looks great. Would buy againSink arrived in good condition, but I had to return it because the color/finish did not match the second sink in a double bowl vanity. Easy return process. We were so happy with this product we bought it again. The sink is excellent. I would recommend this sink with any marble or granite countertop. It looks fantastic in the vanity.
